Meet the Characters

The scrambler will change the order of the letters to make your job more difficult.
The Yolker will visually and aurally block you from hearing AND writing the letters. You have to overcome this and write them anyway!
Chicken.... hides. And he honks a code which you must decipher in order to find him.

What is Secret Chicken?

Secret Chicken is a  FREE, fun, mystery game using simple rhythms intended to help students keep their aural rhythmic skills fresh. Created during the Covid-19 crisis, Secret Chicken is a fun remote-learning music option for students and teachers that meets the basics of review and assessment. Teachers across the world can access secret chicken for FREE.

Each week, chicken will hide in a new location. Listen to the clues in each week's video and use the decoder to help you figure out where Chicken is hiding each week!

Secret Chicken is created by Mel Steiger, a K-5 Music Teacher in  Massachusetts. Mel has a Master's Degree in Music Education from Buffalo State College and a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instructional Design from Capella University.
